China Group Companies Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as CGCPA) is a national association registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the PRC. CGCPA is founded on the principle of voluntary participation and by large-size companies, industry groups, leading companies and relevant civil entities of diversified industry backgrounds and ownerships. CGCPC is supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC).

CGCPA’s predecessor is the National Industrial Company Network, founded voluntarily by 23 large enterprises and their subsidiaries in August 1987. The association was renamed CGCPA in August 1993 after approval of the government authorities. Today, CGCPA has 150 members.

The mandate of the CGCPA is to provide service and nurture a fleet of internationally competitive large companies and industrial groups, which is short termed as the ‘Company Grouping Strategy’.

The mission statement of the CGCPA is to facilitate the growth of large companies and industrial groups in line with the socialist market economy, in helping them creating modern corporate governance, improving communication between member companies and the public sector, organizing exchange and cooperation amongst Chinese and foreign business sector as well as between industry and academic circle, conducting research on theoretic and business challenges in the process of enterprise reform, representing views and opinions of the business sector to government agencies and organizing training, business tours, consulting or other forms of economic cooperation.

CGCPA is mandated to promote economic growth and reform efforts and protect the legitimate interests of its members.
